What Hidden Treasures Will You Discover Today?

A cave conceals a giant golden Buddha ...

Heaven Grotto Temple, known as Wat Tham Suwankhuka in Thai, is a cave shrine featuring some beautiful images of the Buddha. It can be found 5km past the small town of Takua Thung, near central Phang-Nga. The cave is revered for its magnificent reclining gold Buddha which lies in one of 2 caverns. The walls of the second cavern feature some fascinating inscriptions of the royal seals of ancient Thai Kings Rama V, VII and IX.

Stone pillars rise from azure waters ...

This famous landmark, called Koh Ping-gan, became an international icon for Phuket after it was used as part of the exotic location for that classic James Bond movie "The Man With the Golden Gun". This unworldly karst pillar towers over the water like a living sentinel. The entire area surrounding this rocky pinnacle is a spectacular place for a boat trip, perhaps in one of Phuket's famous 'long-tails'. The limestone cliffs create a picturesque backdrop and there are many sheltered places to anchor. Being protected from both Northeast and Southwest monsoon season winds means that the waters here remain calm all year round. Wildlife flourishes here and there is an unmistakable sense of abundance.

Magic moments on a secluded island beach ...

Phang Nga offers the most spectacular scenery in Thailand, and it would be easy enough to fill your stay here with adventure and activity on both land and sea. But there are those times when you just want to kick-back with a special mate and relax in a beautiful spot. Phang Nga Bay's many islands have some gorgeous tucked-away beaches that make the perfect private place for raising a glass. Speedboat ferries will run from the jetty near Hidden Oasis to idyllic sandy coves on the surrounding islands - we can arrange for you to be dropped off for an hour or three to enjoy a magic moment. "Cheers!"

Sea Gypsy Village sways with the tides ...

The fishing village of Panyi is a remarkable settlement of buildings constructed entirely on stilts above the water! This community of about 1200 inhabitants lies in the estuary of the Phang Nga river in front of the rocky island of Koh Panyi. Visitors are very welcome, indeed the great fish restaurants and shopping for unusual handicrafts would be reason enough to pay a visit to this remarkable village, but the scenery presented by this quiet community of 'sea gypsies' swaying at the foot of the towering rock makes Koh Panyi a 'must see'.

A maze of mangroves teems with wildlife ...

And there are lost worlds awaiting discovery. It wasn't many years ago that aerial surveys first revealed the Hong, or "rooms", that lie inside some of Phang Nga's islands. These fabulous microcosms, hidden realms rich in unspoiled flora and fauna, are collapsed cave systems open to the sky and surrounded by towering limestone walls. Try sea-canoeing, where you paddle sturdy inflatable boats through the mangroves, or into caves within the mysterious hearts of islands such as Koh Panak and Koh Hong.
